show and tell.

I have had this very old frame-saw for about a year now and haven't really liked how I had it before (photo here) so I repurposed it in our new place. we needed somewhere to hang coats & jackets by the front door but I didn't just want plain hooks on the wall. so, here is my solution. I'm loving it.

first, I put this piece of old ikea fabric on the wall, the same size as the frame-saw...

then, I hung the frame-saw over it, and hung these hooks.. tah-dah!

this would look just as great with just a simple frame, in fact, Jared would probably prefer that... he's not a fan of me hanging this rusty old saw on the wall and I don't blame him. maybe I'll just make sure that it's really securely hung when there are little ones running around!

warm fuzzies.

Tonight I had a fabulous dinner at Porcupine with my wonderful girl friends. I love them. We had such a blast... lots of laughs, great food, and great company. I made the above pictured microwavable rice bags as gifts for the ladies. Luckily, I purchased plenty of fabric, because when Jared got home from work he made one for us! So simple and easy to make... then zap it in the microwave for 4-5 minutes and throw it in bed to help keep you warm. Fantastic.

he's so cute.

paint by number.

I adore paint by numbers from the 1950's. They're wonderful. I do not own any, and regretfully have passed some up in vintage shops around SLC.

What I long for... is a vintage kit of my own, to do myself. But I can't find any. The only ones I can find are... cheesy. And horrible. No offense. But I adore the vintage style, and wish I could find some...

Like, these...

not sure I want to take it this far... but props to whoever lives here. ::via::

designer wannabe.

I've always been particular in my t-shirt selection. Not too rough, not too thick, not too thin... you can see where I'm going with this. I'm picky. Last week I discovered that Gap was having a sale, 40% off of already marked down clearance items. Luckily, I found basic v-necks, pocketless, that passed my test! Although great shirts, they were a little plain. I don't have a sewing machine (YET) so I pulled out a needle and thread and went to town! Each shirt's embellishments either come from Jo-Ann's or other finds around the apartment. The black one is still a work in progress... I hope to add many more pearls around the neckline. I promise, they're much more darling on, and, I love them.
