remember us..?
we're alive! goodness, i don't even remember how to blog. jared & i have been keeping busy with work, school, and a little traveling here and there (maui, we just couldn't help ourselves... a few maui photos can be seen ::: here :::)
right now we are loving the beautiful autumn weather and changing of the leaves. my sweet sister dori came by last night with some tomatoes from her garden. they're gorgeous. and if that wasn't enough, she also brought over some pumpkin gingerbread, fresh out of the oven, with cream cheese cinnamon goodness to slather on it. mmm mmm mmm. she's fabulous.. thank you dori!
through the end of the summer season i was itchin to open the windows.. autumn couldn't come soon enough. autumn is my favorite. open windows are also my favorite. i love breezes and fresh air coming into our little apartment. this morning we woke to the smell of rain and raindrops on the window above our bed. another favorite. before jared went to work i made a batch of dutch babies. yes please. that's our second round of dutch babies this week. my favorite (and i think it's the traditional way to eat them) is powdered sugar and freshly squeezed lemon juice. the first time i made them this week, i didn't have a lemon, so i squeezed an orange on them. still fantastic. i still haven't picked up lemons.. so this morning we gave our dutch babies a little blueberry preserves lovin.
otis redding, sam cooke, al green, and nina simone joined us for breakfast. and jared & i shared a sweet dance in the kitchen before he left for work. another favorite.
happy autumn everyone. get out and enjoy it.

happy belated valentine's.

better late than never!! happy belated lovers day to you all. pictured above is savvy girl enjoying my valentine's chrysanthemums (one of my favorites.. good job, jared).
jared took me to our favorite restaurant, reef's, in park city. israeli/mediterranean food. (sorry, no photos). but i'm not kidding.. the best food either of us have ever had, every single time we go. make plans to eat there the next time you're in park city!
we hope everyone had a wonderful valentine's... much much love to you all.

three tangent tuesday.
i have been sick lately.. so sick of being sick. currently fighting a kidney infection and now i'm just hoping the antibiotics i'm on will take care of it. anyway, been spending too much time at home, in bed.
so here is a home confined three tangent tuesday. remember those?
first.. i snatched up an ivy cutting and am going to plant it once it gets some roots. wish me luck!

second, our girls.. this first photo of margot kills me. such a face. that girl has attitude.
third, i love native american art and style. been looking around online lately for some treasures. here are a few i'm loving.

some more snapshots. that's right, snapshots.
thought i'd share a few more photos from our fabulous phoenix trip.. sweet jared was extremely reluctant to travel in a car with the cats (understandably!) but let me have my way. my rationale: they might be just fine in the car, and will have fun playing at my parent's house... OR it could be a disaster in the car AND at my parent's house. only one way to find out! i told jared if it blew up in my face, i'd own it, and learn from it. turns out the girls were total champs in the car and in phoenix. props ladies!!

three tangent tuesday.
another week has passed, and it's time again for three tangent tuesday (where I blog about three random things).
1. house envy.
one of my favorite textile designers, amy butler, was featured on apartment therapy recently. her home is AMAZING. i have a very eclectic style and am very picky when it comes how i decorate our home. but i can now say that i could comfortably live in amy's home without changing a thing. maybe amy and i could work that out... here is her space. drool...

2. cake stands.

i love cake stands, and i am always on the lookout for one worth purchasing. here are some beautiful ones i have come across..

this first one is mine, used for our wedding cake. my brother, tyler, is amazing. he made it for us.

3. our little Savvy girl..
there was a time in my life where I was solely a dog person. chances are fairly good that the majority of people reading this are dog-only people. that's ok... you're still fabulous, I'm sure. but I guarantee if you had a chance to save a pretty little kitty from the pound, that would change. I am suddenly in LOVE with this little girl! and maybe, slightly obsessed. so, to you dog people who roll your eyes when I talk about my cat. whatever! you'd love her if you were around her... no doubt. some day I will be thrilled to get a big dog, but for now, I am loving this cat.

kitten cat. birthday festivities.

meet Savvy. the newest member of our little family. Savvy is our little 6 month old rescue kitty from the Humane Society. there were some gorgeous little kittens being given away in the classifieds, but this little girl needed a home, and I couldn't leave her in her sad little cage. my birthday was yesterday, and Jared's is coming up soon, so she is our little birthday gift. this is my first kitty... I've always been a dog person... but am slowly adjusting. how could I say no to this precious little girl... ?
then Jared took me out for a wonderful birthday dinner at The Copper Onion, downtown. it has some of the most fantastic food!
then yesterday, sweet Dori had us over for a birthday dinner for me. so gracious and SO yummy. growing up Mom always prepared a St. Patty's dinner with corned beef, cabbage, irish soda bread, etc. we always loved it. so Dori prepared that yesterday. so good!!
for dessert, The Next Best Thing to Robert Redford. Dori made, per my request. best birthday cake ever...
thank you Dori! we had a blast. it was a fabulous birthday weekend..
