A few months ago, we bought an armoire. I found it in a little antique/thrift shop in downtown SLC. When we first purchased it, we had every intention of painting it. The current paint job isn't the best, and isn't my favorite color either. Bright blue, and you can see the last paint color, yellow, peaking through.
Not long after we bought it, we bought a couple pints of butterscotch colored paint to cover the blue.
Then, when my wonderful family was in town a few weeks ago, my sweet mother and sister GUSHED over the armoire when they saw it. And suggested I keep it blue.
I'm torn.

chicken and rice goodness.
I haven't been cooking very fun things over the last month or so. I need to get on that.
But the other night we really enjoyed our dinner. At least I think Jared did...
I just used ingredients we already had on hand:
sliced grape tomatoes
corn
black beans
diced red onion
cilantro
kosher salt
brown rice
chicken breasts
easy peasy!

tuesday festivities
Tuesday was a cherished day off of work for both of us, and Jared made it clear that I was to leave the day open because he had the day planned for us. He's done this a few times before, and... I'll admit, I'm usually so nosy and inquisitive that I usually figure out the gist of what his plans are. Not this time.
He rushed me to finish getting ready and we started driving. The one thing I wondered might be on the list was the zoo. We love the zoo! So... we started driving, and we past the zoo. I was so confused. He drove us up Emigration Canyon (which we live 5 minutes from, and I've never been to, not okay) and we soon arrived at Ruth's Diner. I've heard of Ruth's Diner but I've never been there. I told Jared that I had never told him about Ruth's... how did he know about it??? He kindly reminded me that I'm not the only person in his life who suggests restaurants to him... ok, fine.
next, the zoo.

treats.
Sometimes... you just need ice cream. Coldstone hit the spot tonight.
When I first met Jared and heard his favorite ice cream was banana, I thought he was super gross. But I promise, Coldstone banana ice cream is amazing! Just sample it next time you're there. So, tonight, J got plain banana. I get the same thing every time... cheesecake ice cream, cherries, and a brownie. Try it, you'll never go back to your old ways...
I learned something tonight.
Jared savors every bite of ice cream.
I scarf. No really, I inhaled the whole waffle bowl.
Something else to work on.
delish.

love note.
Jared and I try to always have prayer together before we part in the morning and when we go to bed at night. Let me just share one of my favorite things about Jared. Often, in his prayer, he will thank our Heavenly Father for our love for each other. I love that... so much.
I am so grateful for a husband who loves me. Like, ridiculously, loves me. We are so crazy about each other and hate being away from one another. Even when we say goodbye in the morning, it's kind of a hard deal for us. And then when I finally get home at night, we never want to fall asleep, we just want to keep hanging out, laughing, and talking. Being married to your best friend is marvelous.
Bottom line, I feel so blessed.

farewell mustachio.
Jared and I shared a significant moment the other day... Jared decided to part with the stache.
I'm not gonna lie, I am loving kissing my husband now. The mustache is always wonderful when it's around, and a part of me misses it, but I certainly do not miss it going up my nose when we smooch.

sometimes...
just sometimes... we stay up until 4:30 am... thus resulting in sleeping til 1 pm. so!... another very late starting day (which is why I'm still up now at 2 am, with loads of energy).
it was a fabulous day. we hung out and chatted and enjoyed each other's company until we decided to venture out into the world. I mentioned that the other night we babysat Andy and Annette's kiddos, we adore them. well, my wonderful brother, Andy, often gives us Macaroni Grill gift cards for payment. we love those... so today we decided to use our babysitting perk on dinner! both of our meals were amazing, mm mm mmmm, and they were, of course, topped off with my favorite, lemon cake creamy yumminess from heaven. probably the smallest piece ever, but that may have been a good thing.
we raced to the dollar theater to catch Karate Kid, but were too late, so came home to watch a flick instead. I have a difficult time sitting through movies. the words, antsy, fidgety, and restless come to mind. I often am wandering around the apartment while Jared watches the movie. of course I found myself in the kitchen this time.
bake a chocolate cake? brilliant.
whip up some homemade whipped cream? perfect.
two servings of cake a day? genius.
cheers.

under the weather.
last night we returned home after babysitting Andy and Annette's kiddos, and I felt quite nauseated before bed. ended up in barf central... I'm guessing I finally fell asleep a little before 6 am and Jared said he found me on the couch with a barf bowel on my chest.
yes, I am feeling better now, thank you for asking. he's making up for sleeping through my sickness last night by making sure I have Sprite and Powerade to sip and saltines to munch on. for the last little while we've been cuddling on the love seat watching music video after video online. Jared wasn't allowed to look at the screen and I was quizzing him to see if he knew the artist/title of the videos. pretty sure our favorite (or at least, mine) was Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up". it made me giggle. a definite pick me up.
I'm all cozy in my bright pink nightgown, circa... 1960ish.
mini barbeque chicken pizzas on pita bread. I'm praying I keep this down.
cheers!
